Gia White is the IES Administrative Director. She has a degree in Spanish Language and Literature from UC Berkeley and began her administrative career in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences in 1989. She later worked for the Department of Anthropology and, in 1993, she came to International & Area Studies to work as the manager for the Center for German & European Studies, and worked closely with the Dean of International & Area Studies to successfully cluster different units into the Institute of European Studies. For over 25 years, Gia has participated in the evolution of International & Area Studies on the Berkeley campus, serving on a variety of committees and excelling as a mentor to staff and as a valuable resource for faculty, students and visiting scholars.
