The Emerging Scholar Affiliate Program at the Institute of European Studies allows select UC Berkeley PhD alumni with established research interests in European Studies to maintain a scholarly affiliation with the Institute for up to 2 years post-PhD. Affiliates present their research annually in IES colloquia.
Interested applicants must demonstrate past and ongoing ties to European studies at UC Berkeley through several ways including but not limited to conference participation and organization, grants and fellowships received and enrollment in European Studies courses.

Please be aware that the Emerging Scholars Program does not provide salaries or remuneration for scholar affiliates nor provide office space or UC Berkeley library access. Neither are Emerging Scholars connected in any way with the IES visiting researchers program and its related fees, costs and benefits.
