The Center for Portuguese Studies supports cooperation between UC Berkeley and Portugal by providing funding for UC Berkeley doctoral students who intend to do research in Portugal under the supervision of a Portugal-based faculty member. Applicants are required to submit a two-page application letter describing the topic of their research and the duration of their intended stay, a two-page CV, a recommendation letter from a Berkeley faculty member sent directly to csp@berkeley.edu, as well as an invitation letter by the supervising faculty member in Portugal, confirming the duration of the intended research stay. Upon approval by the CPS Faculty Director, CPS will provide up to $3,000 dollars for costs associated with the visit. As a condition of receiving funding students are required to submit a report to csp@berkeley.edu within one month after their trip is completed.
