The Center for Portuguese Studies supports cooperation between UC Berkeley and Portugal by providing funding for UC Berkeley graduate students who are invited to present their research at a conference in Portugal. Applicants are required to submit a one-page application letter describing the title and topic of their presentation, the name, place and duration of the conference, a two-page CV, a recommendation letter from a Berkeley faculty member, as well as an invitation letter by the conference organizer in Portugal, confirming the duration of the conference. Upon approval by the CSP Faculty Director, the Center for Portuguese Studies Executive Director will provide a Direct Bill-ID to the Berkeley graduate student to cover the costs of an economy flight to Portugal and a lump sum of $150/day to cover the costs of the stay in Portugal. The maximum amount of funding per student, including flight costs, is $2,000.
