Ana Hatherly Graduate Research Grant

Founded in 2017, the Ana Hatherly Chair promotes the work of one of the most important and multifaceted Portuguese poets, Ana Hatherly. In this context, Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua and the Center for Portuguese Studies are pleased to announce a competition for a UC Berkeley graduate student research grant in the field of Portuguese Studies (broadly defined) of $1,000. This is a one-time grant that may be combined with other Center for Portuguese Studies and IES grants.

Eligibility: All research topics in the field of Portuguese Studies (broadly defined) qualify, but preference will be given to applicants intending to do research relating to Ana Hatherly’s poetry, cinematography, and painting.

Application Instructions

Applicants must submit the following materials:

  1. A one-page application letter, including a 500-word (maximum) abstract of your research.
  2. A short CV
  3. One recommendation letter from a UC faculty member. Letters should be sent directly to ies@berkeley.edu
