Matthew Stenberg is a political scientist who completed his PhD at UC Berkeley in 2022. His research focuses on multilevel party politics in Europe, with a specific focus on the roles that local governments and the European Union play in democratic backsliding. His work has been published in Governance, Government and Opposition, and Urban Affairs Review, among others. He currently works as an Institutional Research Analyst in UC Berkeley’s Graduate Division.
