The following students and professors recieved funding to further collaboration between UC Berkeley and Portugal in the 2024-2025 Academic Year:
- Professor Villas-Boas, and Professor Magruder - from the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics - will bring Professor Batista and Professor Vicente from Nova School of Business and Economics to give a seminar on development impacts in migrant countries in migrant origin countries of improved immigrant integration in the desitantion country and the politcal economy impacts of integration of rural migrants in a city of Mozambique in the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Ahkeel Mestayer, a PhD student in the Department of Ethnomusicology obtained funding to conduct research at the University of Lisbon in Summer 2025. Mestayer will be focusing his research candomblé.
- Simon(e) van Saarloos, a PhD student in the Department of Rhetoric obtained funding to conduct research at the Centre for Communication and Culture at Universidade Católica Portuguesa focusing their work on ageism and decolonization. Van Saarloos is also participating as a keynote speaker while undertaking a research resicency in Portugal.
