Alberto Sanchez Sanchez is a PhD candidate in the Department of Architecture at UC Berkeley. His research explores the construction of the idea of rurality in modern Spain (1939-present) and his areas of interest include modern and vernacular architecture, infrastructures and public works, historic preservation, anthropology, demography, human rights, and public policy. Alberto holds a professional degree in Architecture from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and a MS in Historic Preservation from Columbia University, where he studied as a Fulbright scholar. A licensed architect in Spain, Alberto has worked as a consultant for several architectural firms and public institutions. Prior to starting his PhD he was a Program Associate at World Monuments Fund in New York City.
