Berkeley-Greifswald Mobility Grant

The partnership between UC Berkeley and the University of Greifswald was established in 2006. Both universities are now seeking to intensify their collaboration, and the University of Greifswald is pleased to offer up to 2 short-term grants to qualified Berkeley faculty for a stay of up to 10 days (shorter or longer stays are possible upon mutual agreement).

The University of Greifswald is situated in the Baltic Sea Area, about 2-3 hours from Berlin and Hamburg, Szczecin in Poland and the Danish capital Copenhagen. The University has strong scientific cooperation with partner universities in Northern and Eastern Europe as well as Russia. Cultures of the Baltic Sea Region are one main focus in research and teaching, especially within the Faculty of Arts.

Award amount: The program covers a contribution to travel costs of EUR 1.500 and a daily allowance of EUR 89 per day for up to ten days of mobility plus 2 travel days, paid upon arrival on the first day of mobility.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to UC Berkeley faculty in all fields.

Berkeley professors are expected to offer at least one lecture or workshop during their stay. For teaching activities in cooperation with a professor at Greifswald, additional funding will be provided.

The University of Greifswald will support professors from Berkeley in finding cooperation partners at Greifswald/Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg, in applying for external grants (DAAD/ Fulbright/ AvH scholarships) for their stay, and in finding housing at the university International Guesthouse (IBZ).
