Under the general agreement of cooperation between the University of California, Berkeley and the Technical University of Munich, TUM offers the opportunity to Berkeley students to participate in its Practical Research Experience Program (PREP) to work on cutting-edge research projects with researchers from the Technical University of Munich during their summer break (June to mid-August). PREP is open to undergraduate seniors and graduate students. Please find detailed program dates and application requirements on the PREP homepage. Projects are offered in a great range of disciplines such as Management, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Informatics, Mathematics, Medicine, Life Sciences, Sport & Health Sciences and Chemistry. Aside from the individual assistance by their own PREP Program Manager and student buddies, PREP participants receive a partial scholarship and TUM will reserve a dorm room for them. PREP students will further enjoy their special framework program including a German taster course, an intercultural training, academic and research events, industry visits, excursions in Germany and Europe, networking events with German students etc. PREP does not charge any program fee for Berkeley students. Berkeley participants who do not receive any other funding directly related to their stay at TUM for the participation in PREP, will receive a scholarship of 1,500 € paid in 3 monthly rates. Students need to pay for accommodation (in case of a dorm room quite low price for Munich standards), their individual living costs, flights, visa and insurance expenses as well as public transport in Munich. For more information on the PREP program, please contact Ms. Sara Basurco, M.A. at Basurco@zv.tum.de.
