Beverly Crawford is Professor Emerita of Political Science and Political Economy and is the former Director of the Center for German and European Studies (Currently Honorary Chair) and the EU Center of Excellence at IES. She teaches courses on European Politics, Theories of International Political Economy, American Foreign Policy, Media Literacy, Ethnic and Religious Conflict, and Global Conflict and the Refugee Crisis. She is the author Power and German Foreign Policy: Embedded Hegemony in Europe. Her articles have appeared in German Politics and Society, World Politics, The Journal of Contemporary Security Policy, Comparative Political Studies, Business and Politics, Comparative Security Studies, and Cicero, Magazin fuer Politische Kultur Most recently, she has received fellowships from both the Turkish National Science Foundation and the European Commission to study the demographics of the refugee crisis in Turkey and Europe. In the summer of 2015, she, along with colleagues from Yasar University, became an “accidental volunteer” and provided aid to refugees living on the streets in Izmir, Turkey.
