The partnership between the UC Berkeley and University of St. Andrews, Scotland, UK, was established in 2018. Both universities are seeking to intensify their collaboration. University of St Andrews School of Management is pleased to announce two scholarships for Berkeley graduate students in the Humanities & Social Sciences wishing to do research at St. Andrews.
Founded in 1413, the University of St. Andrews is Scotland’s oldest university, and the third oldest in the English-speaking world. In the QS rankings, St. Andrews has spent over ten years as one of the top-100 universities in the world. The St. Andrews School of Management that offers the scholarship is ranked consistently at the top of national university quality indicators. The School has an overall mission of responsible enterprise and this ethos provides cohesion to its research and teaching endeavors and its engagement with the wider world.
The scholarship has a duration of up to three months maximum (shorter stays are possible). Students will need to organize their own flight and accommodation. The Fellowship offered by the St. Andrews School of Management is £1,000 month and will be paid to the Berkeley student upon arrival in St. Andrews. Preference will be given to Berkeley students who can demonstrate in their application that they already have a faculty contact at University of St. Andrews.
On top of this fellowship, the selected students will receive a $1,000 travel grant from the St. Andrews Society in San Francisco.
This grant can be combined with other IES grants.
Applicants need to submit the following materials:
A one-page application letter, including a 100-word (maximum) abstract of your research and indication of the duration of your stay
A further description of approximately 1,500 words that describes your research
One letter of recommendation from a UC Berkeley faculty member; this letter should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
One letter (or e-mail) from a research supervisor at the University of St. Andrews, with indication of the duration of your stay
A short c.v.
