Berkeley-Erlangen/Nuremberg Research Fellowship

The deadline to apply is February 1.

The scholarship is offered by the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg to all Berkeley PhD seeking students in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The scholarship offered is EUR 1000/month and will be paid to the Berkeley student upon arrival in Erlangen. In the selection of the candidates, preference is given to Berkeley students who can demonstrate in their application that they already have a faculty contact at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. This grant can be combined with other IES grants.

Applicants need to submit the following materials in one pdf document:

  1. A one-page application letter, including a 100-word (maximum) abstract of your research and indication of the duration of your stay

  2. A further description of approximately 1,500 words that describes your research

  3. One letter of recommendation from a UC Berkeley faculty member; this letter should be sent to ies@berkeley.edu

  4. One letter (or e-mail) from a research supervisor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, with indication of the duration of your stay (preferred)

  5. A short c.v.
