Michael Iarocci

Professor of Modern Spanish Literature and Culture

Michael Iarocci is Professor of Modern Spanish Literature and Culture in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Professor Iarocci received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses primarily on comparative and transatlantic Hispanic studies, literature and geopolitics, aesthetics and ideology, and visual culture. He is the author of two books – Enrique Gil y la genealogía de la lírica moderna and Properties of Modernity: Romantic Spain, Modern Europe and the Legacies of Empire – and articles on 18th-, 19th-, and 20th-century Spanish literature and culture.
