Professor
Duggan teaches medieval French and Occitan language and literature.
His principle research interests are medieval epic, romance, and
lyric poetry (especially the troubadours). His current research
projects include an edition of all the French versions of the Chanson
de Roland, of which he is general editor; and, within that project,
an edition of the Châteauroux and Venice 7 manuscripts of
the Chanson de Roland. Among his recent publications are
the Romances of Chrétien de Troyes, "L'épisode
d'Aupais dans Girart de Rousillon," in Reading Around
the Epic: Studies in Honour of Wolfgang van Emden, and "Prolégomènes
à une pragmatique textuelle de la chanson de geste,"
in Epopée romane au moyen age et aux temps modernes.
